The 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subject have been released with Tunghai University advancing to the global ranking of 601-800 in Physical Sciences. Tunghai shares the fourth position in Taiwan with National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU). In its celebration of 68th anniversary, University President Kuo-En Chang, stated that this achievement reaffirms Tunghai's excellence not only in humanities and liberal arts education but also in the fields of Physics Sciences and Engineering. The university is committed to promoting AI technology education with its strong foundation in the humanities.

The College of Science and the College of Engineering at Tunghai have gained notable attention in recent years. In the latest 2024 THE World University Rankings in the subjects of Physical sciences and Engineering, both colleges have achieved remarkable results. The College of Science, composed of departments of Applied Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, and Applied Mathematics, has entered the global ranking of 601-800, sharing the fourth position in Taiwan with two national universities.

President Kuo-En Chang pointed out that the College of Science emphasizes the cultivation of talents with creativity, communication skills, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Dean of College of Science, Prof. Huang-Nan Huang, values hands-on practical experience, logical thinking, and questioning. The College promotes the application of intelligence, encourages participation in international exchanges to enhance competitiveness, and invests heavily in various enrollment scholarships to attract and cultivate talents for AI 2.0.

In terms of engineering, Tunghai University has also ranked between 601-800 in the 2024 THE World University Rankings by subject. It shares the top position among private universities with Chung Yuan Christian University. President Kuo-En Chang mentioned that the College of Engineering, including departments of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Enterprise Information, and Computer Science. Dean of College of Engineering, Prof. Chin-Yin Huang, has made significant efforts in departmental innovation. The college actively promotes AI research and education projects and has published over 2200 research articles in recent years. The close collaboration with over a hundred enterprises in the Central Taiwan Science Park, the Taichung City Precision Machinery Innovation Technology Park, and the Taichung Industrial Park has made Tunghai University College of Engineering a talent pool for science and engineering in the central Taiwan.
