Global geopolitical shifts are leading to the restructuring of supply chains, significantly boosting Southeast Asia's economic and trade prominence and making it a global focal point. Khongsit Choukitcharoen (Tony Chou), General Manager of Cal-Comp Electronics (Thailand) Public Company Limited (CCET), noted during a discussion between Thailand’s Assumption University and Tunghai University that the growth of Southeast Asian economies is attracting higher-level manufacturing and services industries, making the attraction and development of top-tier management talent crucial for company growth. Vice President of Tunghai University, Chang Jo-Shu, stated that Tunghai is planning to partner with Thailand’s Assumption University, known as the “Stanford of the East,” to establish a premier management program in Bangkok. They plan to invite Hsu Sheng-Hsiung, Chairman of the Kinpo Group and a prominent figure in Thailand, to serve as the Chief Chair Professorship.

Known as the “Stanford of the East,” Assumption University in Thailand partners with Tunghai University and Thai Jinpo to establish a premier management program.
With rapid global technological advancements and favorable geopolitical and governmental policies in Southeast Asia, countries like Thailand and Vietnam are attracting substantial investments, emerging as new global manufacturing and export centers. Recognizing the new momentum from Southeast Asia's economic growth and the influx of Taiwanese businesspeople and executives into countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, Tunghai University President Chang Kuo-En is optimistic about this trend. He is planning to collaborate with Thailand’s most international Catholic university, Assumption University, to establish a premier management program. This initiative will promote dual degrees, an online university, and even MBA+EMBA executive management courses, actively inviting top professors from Taiwan, the United States, Thailand, and Singapore to teach in Bangkok, creating a top educational base for the growth of Taiwanese and Asian Chinese businesses.
To better understand and meet corporate needs, Assumption University of Thailand invited Tunghai University from Taiwan to co-host a small seminar on "Accelerating International Academic and Industry Cooperation in Southeast Asia." The seminar was chaired by Professor Fan Ting-Ting, Dean of the Asian Innovation Institute at Assumption University, with Vice Dean Hsieh Tsung-Shun and Director Miao Xi-Xi among other academic leaders attending. The largest manufacturer and exporter in Thailand, CCET, was represented by General Manager Tony Chou, Director Yu Yung-Ching, and Executive Secretary Chou Yi-Chun. Tunghai University was represented by Vice President Chang Jo-Shu, Dean of the College of Management Li Shu-Hsing, and Director of the Office of Public Affairs Huang Chao-Hsi.

CCET, a subsidiary of the Kinpo Group, has, under the leadership of General Manager Tony Chou for 35 years, become Thailand’s largest manufacturing base, producing high-tech products such as network communication devices, charging stations, and smart wearables. Chou emphasized that CCET's success is driven by its diverse talent pool from around the world. He quoted Kinpo Group Chairman Hsu Sheng-Hsiung, saying, "The key to a company lies in its people. If you remove the human element from the word 'company' (企), everything stops." Chou highlighted the importance of attracting talent and the significance of employee development.
Chou stressed that Southeast Asia is becoming a hub for world-class companies and that outstanding talent from Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, and China can be found here. He believes that the success of CCET, rooted in Thailand for 35 years, is largely due to its emphasis on employing excellent Thai staff and talent from around the world. As CCET enters a new phase of growth with its new factory, enhancing the quality of talent and attracting top-tier talent will be crucial. He supports the collaboration with Tunghai University and Assumption University, and as a devout Catholic, he has agreed to take time to lecture at the university, sharing his 35 years of management experience.
Tunghai University Vice President Chang Jo-Shu noted that Assumption University, the alma mater of Thailand's current Queen Suthida, is affiliated with the Vatican and shares the same educational philosophy as Tunghai University. The university’s founding president was a Stanford graduate, and both the campus and curriculum are modeled after Stanford, earning it the reputation of the “Stanford of the East.” Assumption University has nurtured many outstanding talents and is one of the largest and best universities in Thailand. Chang hopes to accelerate the cooperation between the two universities, sign an MOU for dual degrees, establish an online university, and appoint Kinpo Group Chairman Hsu Sheng-Hsiung as an honorary chair professorship, inviting General Manager Tony Chou as a visiting professor to provide the best top-tier management courses for Taiwanese businesspeople and local Chinese students.
Dean of the College of Management at Tunghai University, Li Shu-Hsing, mentioned that Tunghai University has Taiwan's best management programs and EMBA. As a former Vice President of National Taiwan University, he has long been committed to international exchanges. Tunghai is now extending its reach to Thailand, aiming to offer better educational opportunities in the rapidly rising Southeast Asia. Especially, it plans to export AI and management courses from Tunghai University, actively collaborating with Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, and Assumption University to promote professional MBA+EMBA degree programs. These programs will provide training for corporate talent in Bangkok, and the faculty may even teach specialized courses in factories to meet the needs of Taiwanese businesses for high-level executives and to establish a regional talent pool in Bangkok for companies expanding into Southeast Asia.
Dean Fan Ting-Ting of Assumption University stated that as the core hub of Southeast Asia, Assumption University is the only university in Thailand that offers a fully English-taught international education. The university is currently creating a bilingual international learning environment in both English and Chinese. She believes that collaborating with Tunghai University and CCET will precisely enable the university to co-develop top management courses with industries, cultivating top-tier talent. She agrees with General Manager Tony Chou’s philosophy that education should align with industry needs and trends to provide practical teaching. She is confident that the collaboration between the three parties will create the strongest premier management education alliance, playing a significant role in the rapidly growing Southeast Asian economy.
