Asia-Pacific and Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards Announced
Tunghai University Again Tops All Universities in Taiwan

The 2022 Asia-Pacific and Taiwan Sustainability Awards was held on August 12 with Vice President William Lai Ching-te and General Convener Eugene Chien as special guest speaker and award-presenter. After winning four golds and one silver last year, Tunghai University won three gold, three silver and two bronze awards this year. It has been the most awarded school among colleges and universities for two consecutive years. Tunghai University's efforts and commitment to SDGs has once again been recognized.

In the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Award, Tunghai University won the gold award with "AI Technology for SDGs", along with three silvers and one bronze; in the Taiwan Sustainable Action Award, Tunghai University won two golds with “Water Environment Education 1+1>2” and “Sustainable Influence Co-creation Platform” and a bronze award with “From labor education to sustainable public welfare education”. In recent years, Tunghai University has been actively integrating its energy in education and research to promote initiatives and actions in the four dimensions of sustainability. Under the sustainability governance framework, Tunghai has set up a systematic procedure from proposal, innovation, to implementation and has demonstrated positivity, innovation and influence that led to its continued success in its sustainability efforts.

Tunghai University has long been devoted to the talent education related to sustainability development and has been granted various awards, including the TCSA Sustainability Model University Award for two consecutive years, the Outstanding USR Award granted by the Global View Magazine for two consecutive years, the Low-Carbon Sustainable Outstanding Contribution Award granted by Taichung City Government for three consecutive years, and ranking first in non-medical universities in Taiwan in THE World University Impact Rankings for three consecutive years. Starting 2022, Vice President Jo-Shu Chang leads the university Sustainability Office to set up an “intelligent Carbon Neutral Park” on campus to integrate AI/zero emission education, industrial network and technology research. Tunghai University will reshape our labor education and general education to societal needs so as to create more contribution to the social responsibility and sustainability development.
