A special summer class for Tunghai University, co-organized by University of Haifa and Tunghai University, was opened on July 26 in Israel. The opening ceremony was hosted by University of Haifa President Ron Robin and the Tunghai delegation was led by Business Administration Department professor Ying-Chyi Chou. The Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Tel- Aviv Ms. Ya-Ping Lee was invited to witness the progress of Taiwan-Israel cooperation in sustainable education.

The “TungHai Alliance” between Tunghai University and University of Haifa was formed in 2020 through the coordination by Tunghai alumnus Chi-Yuan Huang. Dean of Tunghai College of Management, Prof. Houn-Gee Chen, then assigned Prof. Ying-Chyi Chou to organize further cooperation. In 2021, the annual meeting of Management of Technology was co-hosted by the two universities at Tunghai University in Taiwan.
The 2022 Summer Innovation Academic Program, co-designed by Prof. Ying-Chyi Chou and Dr. Jacob Inbar, combines Green Entrepreneur course, case study on Israeli enterprises, and visits and classroom interactions with Israeli industrial managers. It is a highly customized innovation program based on Dr. Inbar’s 20+ years of industrial experience and network.

The students participating in the special summer program age from 20’s to over 60. There are 18 MBA/EMBA students and 5 undergraduate students from different departments. According to Prof. Chou, Tunghai University and University of Haifa respectively specialize in areas such as Gerontology, Life Science and Artificial Intelligence. There are plenty of possibilities in the “TungHai Alliance” for cooperation in academic research as well as in offering joint degrees for student in both countries.
