On November 12th and 13th,2021, FLLD teamed up with the Association of French Teachers in Taiwan, the French Office in Taipei and the French Institute Organization to organize the first Rencontres pédagogiques autour du français professionnel. The conference featured talks and workshops on professional French teaching practice in higher education, not only in Taiwan, but also in Thailand and Vietnam. French for tourism, gastronomy, sciences and mass communication were some of the professional areas discussed during the two-day event. Online speeches from scholars of Vietnam University, Hanoi and Rangsit university in Thailand were greatly appreciated by French teachers in Taiwan, fostering new opportunities of international collaboration in the future. Many young aspiring French teachers in apprenticeship in Taiwan also joined the conference and contributed a lot to its dynamic working atmosphere.

On December 18th,2021, two Tunghai students attended the third national French speech contest organized by the French Teachers Association with the support of the French Office in Taipei. The contest took place at National Taiwan Normal University. Students from local universities were competing in three categories (poetry recitation, speech and debate).

Student Leslie Chen (陳政揚) inspired the audience with his speech about online learning during the pandemic. He was awarded with the 2nd prize. Student Inès Huang (黃韋綺) recited very convincingly an excerpt of the 14th Dalai Lama’s Acceptance Speech, on the occasion of the award of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.
